Plains Game Daily Rates

The smallest bullet diameter allowed for plains game is .270.  Commonly available and effective cartridges include .270 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington, 7x57mm Mauser, .280 Remington, any of the 7mm magnum cartridges, .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, any of the .300 magnum cartridges, .338-06, .338 Winchester Magnum, .35 Whelen, .375 H&H Magnum, and above.  Essentially, any cartridge normally sufficient for elk hunting will be suitable for plains game.  Most shots will be at 100 yards.
